This is our tips section. The Narmir Administration, as well as input from some veteran players, have compiled some basic tips to help get you on your way. Most tips here are opinionated and we point out not to take every tip at face value. *Note: Some tips accuracy may be determined by kingdom race and/or play style. As with all tips and opinions we suggest you experiment to find its level of accuracy.* The tips are not in any specific order so you might want to ask some vets which they think you should try first to get the most out of your turns.
<Tip #1>
*Opinion: Get advice from people in chat, try to think of smart questions and don't ask things that are in the guides that you can look up yourself. Vets in this game are often willing to help, but mostly if you show your willingness to learn. Don't just take the word of 1 vet, try to get more opinions and double check things you learn. If you want to know who are vets just ask or look in the rankings and see how well they are doing.*
<Tip #2>
*Opinion: Plan ahead before you start. Try to think what kind of character you want to be and what race suits well with it. Try to ask in chat where you should put your points. Race and point placement has a big impact on your character and even though you could still do ok with a bad race or bad points, you could always have been doing better with points placed right.*
<Tip #3>
*Opinion: Make every turn count. Think about what your doing before doing it. Try to look ahead as many turns as possible. A couple wasted turns can make a big difference in a short amount of time.*
<Tip #4>
*Opinion: Go for the gold. Gold and food are your 2 main resources. The more gold you have to spend the better. Its fun to start out warring but having a healthy economy and a decent income is important for any race and any character. You will be able to build up faster and get troops and defenses faster.*
<Tip #5>
*Opinion: Set your taxes to 41%-43% before you take any turns. This will raise your income per turn. If you go to high your people will leave and your food and gold production will go down. If you go to low your people come back but your gold production goes down. Most people here prefer 42% or 43%. There are some that run 43% and then as they get more land they raise to 50% and build enough coliseums to bring the people back. Experiment and find what works best for you.*
<Tip #6>
*Opinion: When you first start out study your spell book to 40 to get to dispel because you may need it later. Then search for other people 1 time and this will give you your own location as well as many others. Go to warfare and find your kingdom name and select it. Then go to spells and pick Midas Touch. Slide the slider bar for power all the way to max. Then slide the duration all the way to 48 turns. Now hit cast spell. Now you have Midas Touch running on your kingdom for 48 turns increasing your gold by 10% per turn. Be sure to repeat this every 48 turns. After you cast midas and your spell book drops below the book requirement the spell is going to back fire on you every time after that. That is ok since good spells backfiring on you don't hurt. This is also the reason for going ahead and getting dispel so if you need it you already have it to use.*
<Tip #7>
*Opinion: Build 2-4 (depending on your playing style) barracks to lower your maintenance cost so you have more gold to spend.*
<Tip #8>
*Opinion: Study economy to raise your income. Hire researchers so your getting the full 5 points on economy per turn. Also you might want to study entertainment so your people are happy and it will bring more people to your kingdom. More people mean more food and gold production but don't forget those people have to eat so they will use more food too so be careful.*
<Tip #9>
*Opinion: Build 10 farms and build enough training fields so that you gain 1 exp per turn on troops. Do not waste your time on building market places or coliseums, go straight to building castles. Might give you extra score but is worth over all. Produces extra Food, Money, Mana, etc.*
<Tip #10>
*Opinion: Build a great defense, best offense is great defense. Run at least 11% of your land in defense and covert defense buildings when you can. This will help give you the "home field" advantage when defending.*
<Tip #11>
*Opinion: Find some allies. Having allies can give you people you can trust to exchange information. Also if attacked your allies will send troops to help defend your kingdom as long as they in range and they have a pledge set. But be careful who you ally with because some may leave you when you need them the most. Set your ally pledge to 0-2 %. It defaults to 3 but if you lower it some then if your ally gets beat up it wont milk all your troops leaving you weak.*
<Tip #12>
*Opinion: When climbing up the ranks try to keep your allies or other kingdoms close by. If you spread them too far apart and you get attacked they can't help with dispels or even allied pledges. But keep some score range between them so its harder for someone to attack them all. Running at least one back further than the rest is usually a good idea that can jump score easily so he can jump up dispel then drop back down.*
<Tip #13>
*Opinion: Remember
score doesn't mean everything. As it may look good to jump up the ranks in score
most times if you do it too quickly you forget to keep your kingdom balanced and
stable. You will end up starving or becoming someone else's lunch. There are
ways to climb quickly and stay strong and balanced. You will need to experiment
and find one that works for your playing style.*
<Tip #14>
*Opinion: One way to attack a member of an alliance is to attack one person in the alliance and watch the others score. If their score drops each time you attack then they are sending troops. Attack that person until you abuse him/her (which is 10 times). Then go attack the kingdom you actually wanted because now they are weaker from sending all the troops to their ally's aid.*
<Tip #15>
*Opinion: When in chat you will notice the + and - next to peoples names. The + means they are watching chat and the - means they are taking turns with the kingdom they are chatting with. Never take turns with your kingdom while its in chat. This is a perfect opportunity for someone to cast a spell on you while your taking turns and you not see it. Also look at your news after every turn and make sure there haven't been any spells or anything before you take another turn.*
<Tip #16>
*Opinion: One way to make your kingdom a little stronger is to run "troop heavy". This is running more troops than you can feed. But if you do this remember your kingdom is unstable as it cant feed everyone by itself. You must keep an eye on food at all times making sure to search for food every few turns to keep from starving.*
<Tip # 17>
*Opinion: Try to keep all your land built on. If you don't you become "land fat". Land fat is where you have more land than you need at your score level. This in turn means you don't have enough troops or def buildings for your score level which makes you weak. For example if you have 10k land not built on then your land fat because you are getting score from that land but your not getting any benefits of defense buildings on it or gold and food productions which also mean you don't have all the troops you "could" have. If your defenses are not strong enough at that score level your kingdom is easily broken.*
<Tip #18>
*Opinion: Always set up your defenses before you run out of turns to prepare your kingdom to set until you get back on. This could be the difference between a good day or a bad day when you log back on.*
<Tip #19>
*Opinion: After you take your last turn spend your gold on hiring all you can of your strongest troop. This will give you that little extra defense while your logged off. If your kingdom was stable as far as food and gold income to usage then it might not be when you log back depending on how much you hired but no worry you can always fire them when you log on before taking turns.*
